Some Facts On Volcano's



The temperature of a volcano can reach around 1,160 degrees Celsius which is the same as 2,120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Magma and Lava are not the same thing. Magma is a liquid rock inside a volcano and Lava is a liquid rock that come's out of a volcano.

When Magma erupts it's known as Lava.

There is about 1,515 'ACTIVE' volcano's all around the world. We also know of another 80 volcano's that are under the sea.

What is the ring of fire?
The ring of fire is where over half the worlds volcano's are in a belt Pacific Ocean.

We all knowe of the Danger of Hot Lava but Volcano's can also cause
-Rock Falls.
-Tsunamis.
-Mud Flows.
-Earthquake.
-Flash Floods.

Effects Of Volcano's
-Death.
-Poisonous Gas going into the air.
-Building Collapse.
-Bad Weather.

A Volcano Fact
-1 in 10 people live within the 'Danger Range' of a Volcano that is 'Active'
-Some people get used to living near Volcano's but are still a little worried about it. It is estimated that around 200,000 people have died as a results of living in a volcano danger area in the last 500 Years

MAGMA-Molten rock underneath the ground.
SILL-A piece of rock that is flat that is formed by lava going into cracks in a Volcano.
VENT-A small opening in a Volcano that lets Lava and magma escape.
CRATER-The crater is the mouth of the Volcano.
CONDUIT-A passage that magma flows through. The passage is underground.
SUMMIT-The top of the Volcano is called the summit.
ASH-Small pieces of rock that are smaller then 2mm in size

How a Volcanoes are made?



A Volcano is made by tectonic plates that are pushed together and collide with each orther and pressure builds up, then the oceanic plates get seperated under the continental plate, which therefore melts which causes magma to rise up creating a volcano.
